The two British heavyweight boxers, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are finally set to fight one another to crown an undisputed champion of the world. Negotiations for the eagerly anticipated fight look seemingly close to being finalised, with both fighters taking to their social media accounts letting their fans know.
The blockbuster fight is very close to being officially announced with the fight being slated to take place in the summer. The winner would become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, holding the IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO and Ring Magazine titles. This would also be the first time in the history of the sport’s ‘glamour’ division that there would be a champion holding all four of the major world titles.
Joshua recently tweeted: “Another positive meeting with @258mgt. They’ve informed me things are shaping up nicely. They will be sharing the update with Eddie (Hearn) and you’ll be hearing from me soon.”
Meanwhile, his future opponent, Tyson Fury, the “Gypsy King”, also took to Twitter telling his fans in a video that he had started back training in his hometown of Manchester. He is planning on “smashing” his rival come the summer, when the two are set to collide.
Promoters Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum who represent both fighters have said that possible venues for the fight include: The Middle East, America, the UK, Singapore or China. Ideally, fight fans would love for the fight to take place in the UK, however, ongoing issues surrounding COVID-19 and the country’s lockdown may prevent this from happening. Both fighters have also spoke out in hopes that the fight could take place in front of a full capacity crowd.
With the fight looking set to being finally announced within the next couple of weeks, sporting fans will at least have something to look forward to this summer.
