Celtic and Rangers played their first televised derby game at Celtic park last night in a revolutionary step forward for the women’s game. Here is how the old firm and other games throughout Scotland went last night.
Celtic played Rangers in a nitty gritty old firm match that seen Celtic win 1-0 in the final 10 minutes. Celtic winger Mariah Lee met Chloe Warrington’s long ball and sent it into the back of the net to secure the win for the Celts at Parkhead.
Forfar Farmington lost at home to Spartans 2-1, Becky Galbraith secured the win for Spartans with early first half goals but they were unable to keep a clean sheet as Cheryl Kilcoyne sent the ball through Spartans keeper Alicia Yates legs and over the line before half-time.
It wasn’t just Forfar that lost 2-1 on Wednesday as Hearts and Hibernian suffered the same fate of results.
Hearts slipped back down to 8th after Motherwell climbed back into 7th thanks to goals from Nicole Pullar and Claire Adams. It was Kirstie Macintosh that opened the scoring for Hearts as a cross ball hit off her knee and effortlessly went into the net but ultimately it wasn’t enough to see them pull forward.
Glasgow City seen two out of the three Edinbrugh based teams go home with shattered hearts and 2-1 defeats as Janine Van Wyk and Priscila Chinchilla’s penalty reversed Hibs’s early first half goal made by Eilidh Adams. Glasgow City still sit at the top of the table thanks to their win and Celtic’s win against Rangers.
