Some big games happened this weekend with even bigger results, here are the results and games you may have missed in the SWPL1.
Rangers were able to pull off an extraordinary 11-0 win over Forfar Farmington with goals from Elizabeth Arnot, Zoe Ness, Samantha Mary Kerr, Brogan Hay, Sonia O’Neill and unfortunately for Forfar an own goal from Alana Bruce. Despite being ahead of Glasgow City in goal difference City are still top of the table with only 3 points separating the two sides.
Celtic were able to edge their way closer to that second place spot in the table with a 3-1 victory over Hibernian. Despite an opening goal from Hibs by Amy Gallacher it was Kate Nicolson, Chloe Craig and Sarah Ewens who ultimately secured the three points for the hoops.
It was top of the table vs the bottom of the table on Sunday as Glasgow City beat Heart of Midlothian 4-0. Priscila Chinchilla and Cailin Michie were able to score in the first ten minutes which was then followed by another two goals by Julia Anna Molin and Joanne Love in the second half to keep them at the top of the table.
Motherwell suffered another harsh defeat as the steelwomen were beat 3-1 by Spartans at Ainslie Park. A goal from Nicole Pullar revived Motherwell’s hopes of a comeback after Spartans gained the advantage early but ultimately goals from Sarah Clelland, Becky Galbraith and Michaela McAlonie sealed Motherwell’s bottom eight fate for another week.
