Nurse says he is “So happy” to be able to gym again after facilities finally open their doors following months of inactivity.
When asked how it felt being able to resume some normality in his life and how the first day back had gone, Reid Candlish said: “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time, it’s good to see everyone else back, there’s a good atmosphere in the gym”.
When asked if the facilities felt safe, Reid said: “Definitely.
“Everyone is wiping down the equipment and being respectful”.
Reid has been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 for the last 12 months, a fight that has seen him work in Covid units and have limited engagement with friends and family to keep them safe. He insisted there is no cause for concern for his fellow gym enthusiasts, hailing the protocols put in place at his work.
He said: “There’s lots of precautions in place to keep patients safe from us and to keep us safe from patients, so transmission rates in my unit (have been) zero over the last few months… so I feel confident”.
Reid will join the millions of Scots that hope the worst of the pandemic is behind us and that he will be able to continue smashing weights for the foreseeable future.
