Now the season is over and Champions League slots have been awarded here is how the league finished.
Glasgow City lifted the League trophy yesterday as they secured their 14th title win in a row after a 2-0 win over one of their strongest competitors this season Rangers FC. Goals from Hayley Lauder and Niamh Farrelly sealed the deal for Glasgow City. Not only are Glasgow City this years league champions they will also be returning to Champions League football.
Celtic fought tooth and nail the last few weeks to get into second and with a huge 8-0 win over Motherwell FC they secured Champions League football for the first time in their history. Goals from Lisa Robertson, Kelly Clark, a double from Anna Filbey, London Pollard, Chloe Craig, Sarah Ewens and Kate Nicholson secured second place for the hoops as they prepare their passports for Europe next season.
Forfar Farmington were unfortunate to lose 7-0 on their final game of the season to Hibernian. Hibs were able to sneak past Spartans FC back into fourth thanks to goals from Kirsty Morrison, Rosie Livingston, Carla Boyce, Siobhan Hunter, Ellis Notley, Eilidh Adams and Amy Gallacher.
In another Edinburgh derby Spartans and Hearts both fought tooth and nail to come out on top but ultimately a last minute equaliser from Spartans seen the game end 1-1. Hearts initially took the lead during stoppage time due to a great effort from Murron Cunningham but Spartans in the death of the match were able to obtain that final point thanks to Becky Galbraith.
Well done to the various teams this season who played to the best of their ability snd showed determination and pride to the very end.
