Beth Shriever won her BMX racing Olympic gold medal minutes after her team-mate, Kye Whyte, secured silver in the men’s event.
Shriever had to fight hard against defending champion Mariana Pajon and she came out on top, stopping the Colombian from getting her third gold medal in a row. The 22-year-old who received mass support before the games via a crowd fund which helped her achieve her Olympic dreams, secured Team GB’s sixth gold medal.
