Despite the victory, there was some concern for Scotland after player of the match Erin Cuthbert had to be stretchered off the pitch in the final minutes of the game.

Goal scorer Chloe Arthur said: “I’m delighted to get on the score sheet, scoring one at Hampden and then to get another one is even more special.

“It’s really important to get a good start in these qualification games, we can go back to our club knowing we got the two results and hopefully Erin Cuthbert will be okay, she’s got a key role in this team, so we do need her fit and healthy.

“The crowd are like extra players for us and having them here it’s so nice to have them back. We’re so grateful to be at Hampden and to have them here with us.

“It’s been great playing under Pedro Martínez Losa, the girls and I have really enjoyed it. We’ve had a short amount of time to put together what he wants, but with two wins we’ll look over everything and see if there is anything that can be approved on.”
